Celebration of ASLMS Women in Energy Based Devices Presentation Title: Paying It Forward: The Transformative Power of Mentorship Presentation Summary: Mentorship is often defined as a direct one-on-one relationship, but it can also be achieved through observation of role models and taking advantage of professional experiences. As someone who didn’t have a traditional mentor early in my career, the professional role models who guided me without direct interaction made me realize the importance of giving back and offering guidance to others. Over the past 35 years, I have sought to “pay it forward” by creating opportunities for others to learn through providing observational preceptorships and hands-on training workshops, delivering lectures around the globe, publishing books and articles, and sharing life lessons that have ensured a lasting legacy. Mentorship is a dynamic, mutually beneficial relationship that fosters personal and professional growth, as mentors provide guidance, support, and experience, while mentees bring fresh perspectives, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn. |
